We are excited to welcome Dr. Sharon Zito to our Morena Pet Hospital team!
For those of you who have yet to meet her, Dr. Sharon Zito is a graduate of University of California School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Zito worked in the Large Animal Intensive Care Unit at the UC Davis Veterinary School. She then completed a one year small animal internship in medicine and surgery at the West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group.
Dr. Zito is actively involved in Spay/Neuter programs including SPAY MEXICO, FCC (Feral Cat Coalition), ARRF (Animal Rescue Resource Foundation), ECAR (East County Animal Rescue), and Angel Dogs Foundation. Prior to joining our staff, Dr. Zito worked in emergency medicine for 20 years, working at all the major veterinary emergency hospitals in the San Diego area. She also owned and operated a small animal clinic for seven years. She has provided relief veterinary services for over 25 years and has a small house call practice in the eastern edge of the county.
She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, San Diego County Veterinary Medical Association, and International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. Her main interests are emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, disaster management, and spay/neuter clinics.
Dr. Zito was raised in upstate New York and the Pacific Northwest. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from M.I.T. She has lived in Washington, Massachusetts, Maine, and Hawaii before deciding to make San Diego County her home. She lives on a ranch that she co-owns east of Alpine with five dogs, four cats, and three horses. She enjoys snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, hiking, traveling, and refining her skills as a private pilot.
We are excited and fortunate to have yet another talented veterinarian join our team!
